Juan Gato says he hopes alcohol is related to this idea. Well, it would have to be, wouldn't it? Wouldn't it? Bryan Preston reminds us what its like to be a Christian in Pakistan and gives David Letterman his props. So I see this poll that says that most Canadians see America as a bully and I've got to admit my first thought was, "Who gives a flip!" Surprisingly, the story itself describes the poll results as "conflicted" which is diplo-speak for, "these people are incredibly stupid." As an example, nearly seventy percent of people surveyed described the United States as a bully. This is in spite of the fact that 53% of those surveyed stated that the U.S. has a responsibility to go mucking around in other countries affairs.
So let me get this straight, a sizeable portion of the population of Canada believes that my country is required to go monkeying around with the internal workings of other nations, but as soon as we do these same people immediately call us bullies. Fortunately for them we have other countries that are more important to "bully" around right now like Iraq and North Korea. Otherwise we might have go bully them and show them how health care is supposed to work. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Before I get any mail, I am kidding, but when I see stuff like this it is so tempting. Ahem
You know, some day someone should write a poem entitled "Ode to the Language Barrier". Although, in the case of the Raelians, I think this was actually an improvement. Monday, December 30, 2002
Martin Devon argues that if Hussein asked for safe passage to Libya, we should give it to him. I'm torn. While want to avoid war if possible, the idea of letting Hussein get away really bothers me. Joshua Claybourn writes, "When it comes to the modern college scene, you can dissect it into two parts - love and academics."
Shoot. I knew I missed out on something when I was in college. I'MMMMMMMMM BACCCCCKKKKK!!!!!!!!! Well, at least sort of. I think I finally figured out that one of the medications the doctor had me on was causing me a lot of problems and I'm going to try to do somthing about that. In the meantime, I'll try to get a little posting in. Sunday, December 22, 2002
Again, I'm sorry for the lack of posting. My health has been giving me a lot of trouble. I'm going to try to get back to a limited posting schedule soon, although it may not be until after Christmas.
I've received several notes from people expressing concern and I want to take this time to say thank you as I have not been up to responding to everyone individually.
Let me leave you with a few Christmas thoughts.
Number one, while it is great that at Christmas time people take some time to remember Jesus, the birth of Christ is by no means the most important thing about his life. In fact, as astonishing as a virgin birth is, it would be meaningless without the death and resurrection.
Secondly, there are many religious songs that we tend to think of as "Christmas" songs. These songs are song at Christmas time because of the great things they say about Jesus's birth. In many of those songs people often have only heard only the first one or two verses. Often these songs have incredible verses about much more than just the birth of Christ. Consider taking time to examine some of these songs and learning the rest of the verses.
If I don't have a chance to post again, Merry Christmas. Tuesday, December 17, 2002
Sorry for the lack of posting. I've been back in town for about a week, but my health problems have really been bothering me this week. I'll try to get some posting in later today. |
